Chetna Grover was shocked when told she was expecting triplets.
The Sunshine mother was six weeks pregnant at the time and already a mother to 10-year-old Srihsti.
“I was surprised and shocked,” she said. “I wasn’t scared, though”
Mrs Grover gave birth without complications to Parv, Panav and Pulkit on January 17 at Berwick’s Casey Hospital, the only public Victorian maternity department willing to cater for triplets.
Her sister-in-law has come from India to help her in the first few months after the birth, but when she returns home at the end of the month, Mrs Grover will be mostly on her own.
Her husband, Amit, is juggling two jobs, in cleaning and security, meaning he’s often not home.
“Sometimes it’s really hard to settle all of them, one can be on my breast, one on my shoulder and one left lying down,” she said. “Three crying at once is a lot.”
Volunteers from the Multiple Birth Volunteer Support program are coming to her aid.
Volunteer Lesley Jaensch is trying to find other volunteers to help Mrs Grover with her three newborns during the day and in the early evening. Contact Ms Jaensch on 0422 440 190 if you are interested in becoming a volunteer.
