Keilor Thunder had a crushing 88-37 win over Whittlesea Pacers in the Big V basketball women’s state championship at Mill Park Basketball Stadium on Saturday night.
The Thunder was on-song from the outset, opening up a 14-point lead by the end of the first quarter, which stretched out further the longer the game went on.
The Tom Bandilovski-coached Thunder was particularly focused on defence, conceding just 15 points in the second half.
Erin Bollman was the standout for Keilor. The import finished with 21 points, 15 rebounds and six assists.
Aneta Bandilovski was strong at both ends, registering 14 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Off the bench, Gemma Anderson also scored 14 points to go with eight rebounds and five steals.
Keilor is third on the ladder, one game back from ladder leaders Sunbury Jets.
In men’s state championship, Keilor Thunder had a thrilling 90-85 win on the road over Werribee Devils at Eagle Stadium on Sunday. Mike Anderson put on a show for the Thunder with 28 points and eight rebounds.
Keilor Thunder has won three of its past four games to sit fifth on the ladder.
The Thunder will play a crucial double header this weekend, starting with a trip to Chelsea Gulls on Saturday night, followed by a home game against Casey Cavaliers on Sunday.
