Sunbury Kangaroos pulled off their best win of the season, knocking off Wallan in the Gisborne and District Cricket Association Johnstone Shield on Saturday.
The Kangaroos were in for a tough task defending a low score against a side that had won four of its five completed matches.
Wallan resumed at 2-10 on Saturday in reply to the Kangaroos’ 143.
The Kangaroos got off to a good start with the ball on Saturday, taking three quick wickets to have the Magpies in trouble at 5-28.
The Magpies steadied a little bit, before the wickets started to fall again. The Kangaroos eventually bowling them out for 100 to secure the win.
Nathan Anderson was the star of the show, taking 7-51 off 20.4 overs.
The win moves the Kangaroos to sixth.
Rupertswood has moved to top spot after an outright win against Macedon.
Having claimed first innings points on day one, Rupo were able to finish the job on day two.
Resuming at 4-191 in reply to the Cats’ 44, Rupo continued their innings on day two.
They were 9-243 when they decided to declare and send the Cats back in.
They were able to bowl the Cats out for 136 to ensure maximum points.
Chris Axton and Nathan Aikman top scored with 36 apiece.
Joel Muir, who took seven wickets for the game, Ryley Davis and Max Howell took three wickets each in the second innings for Rupo.
East Sunbury slipped down the ladder after not being able to chase down the runs against Bacchus Marsh.
Chasing 235, the Thunder were bowled out for 173.
There was lots of starts for the Thunder batsmen, but no one was able to go on with it. Steve Grey top scored with 43 at the top of the order.
Bacchus Marsh has moved up to third, while East Sunbury now sits fifth.
Gisborne beat Sunbury United in the other match.
