A first quarter blitz against Bacchus Marsh set up Melton South’s second win of the Ballarat Netball League season.

The Panthers led 19-8 at quarter-time and extended the lead to 15 goals at the main break and 48-33 at the last change.

The Cobras showed some fight in the final quarter, but it wasn’t enough, with the Panthers winning 62-50.

Panthers goal shooter Bec Colwell shot a remarkable 50 goals from 52 attempts. Her shooting partner Alexis Climas was best on court.

For the Cobras, Susan Watson and Madeline Hodgson shot 24 goals a piece.

The Panthers would be liking their chances of another win next week when they play the lower-placed Darley.

In other games, Melton remains winless after a 42-33 loss to Lake Wendouree.

Ebony Carter was best for the Bloods.

Darley’s tough season continued with a 45-27 loss to Sebastopol. Midcourter Amy Giaini was named the Devils’ best.
