Caroline Springs came from behind to sneak home in a thriller against Werribee Centrals in the Western Region Football League women’s competition.

While the ladder-leading Lakers entered the match as favourites, it was the Centrals that fired first.

They kicked the only two goals of the first quarter and had extended their lead to 20 points at the main break.

After half-time, it was a different Lakers side that took to the field, one that kicked three goals to nil to trail by two points heading into the final quarter.

Neither team was able to kick a goal, but the Lakers did enough by scoring three behinds to steal the 4.4 (28)-4.3 (27) win.

Alexandra Fato, who kicked two third-quarter goals, was named the Lakers’ best.

Fato has 20 goals for the season, second most at the club behind Caitlin Pretty on 24.
