It was grand final disappointment for a second straight year for the Sunbury Lions B-grade netball side in the Ballarat Netball League.

The Lions again had to settle for second with Lake Wendouree going back to back.

The Lions started the better of the two sides, before the Lakers pegged them back.

The Lions lead by one goal at quarter-time. The margin remained at one goal at half-time, with neither side able to make the most of their opportunities.

The Lakers had scoring opportunities but were unable to convert, while the Lions were making too many turnovers.

The Lakers took control early in the third quarter, forcing the Lions to make some changes.

The Lakers led by three goals heading into the last break and didn’t look challenged in the final quarter.

The Lions shot some late goals to bring the margin back to two goals, but that was as close as they got. The Lakers won 47-45.

Amanda Cusack shot 35 goals from 39 attempts for the Lions to be the best shooter on court.

Lakers’ wing attack Madeline Wallis was named best on court.
