The Blues Brothers movie, BABBA and Australian Booty are among some of the acts set to entertain audiences at the Wyndham Cultural Centre next year.

Wyndham’s arts, culture and heritage portfolio holder, Cr Tony Hooper, said comedians Tom Gleeson and Tommy Little would be among the performers appearing at the Werribee centre during 2019.

Cr Hooper said the centre’s musical season would begin with an Italian opera gala presented by Melbourne Opera, accompanied by a 40-piece orchestra.

Music from other genres, including pop, would also visit the centre.

“BABBA will be visiting in May for a show with glitz, glamour and Swedish accents,” Cr Hooper said.

“For 21 years BABBA have been entertaining audiences with their re-creation of the ’70s super group ABBA.”

Another show called Australian Booty, which Cr Hopper described as “an entertaining mix of comedy, dance, fierce and hilarious hip-hop and soulful singing … that is about feminist power and self-love” would be staged next year.

“And a standout feature is the Sunday Movie Club, pulling the best cult classic cinema off the silver screen with special audience participation led by a cast of live performers,” Cr Hooper said.

The Blues Brothers, Labyrinth, The Sound of Music, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Chicago are just some of the films that will come to life at the cultural centre.”
