It’s not just numismatists and philatelists who are invited to the Western Money Fair in Werribee this weekend – everyone should take note.

More than a dozen collectors and dealers of currency, coins, tokens and banknotes, as well as postal stamps and memorabilia, will be showing off their collections at the fair, to be held on Saturday in the Salvation Army hall on Watton Street.

Event organiser Phillip Richards said the show would include extraordinary and rare objects and would raise money for the Salvation Army.

“The dealers all bring diversity to the fair in what they have,” Mr Richards said.

“The latest Royal Australian Mint coinage range … or some specialise in hard-to-find Australian commemorative coins and notes. A vast variety of world bank notes will also be available.”

Among the rare coins on show will be Australian pre-decimal and decimal coins, world coins and ancient Roman and UK hammered coinage.

For the stamp and postal collectors, a wide selection of Australian mint stamps, first day cover stamps, envelopes and cancellation stamps will be on show.
