Grab a picnic blanket and some popcorn and relax with the family at outdoor movie sessions across Hume over the next two months.

The free movies will be running in Broadmeadows, Craigieburn, Tullamarine and Sunbury until the end of March as part of the council’s Summer Sessions.

Mayor Carly Moore encouraged families to enjoy the warmer weather, family entertainment and free outdoor movies.

“Each evening is a relaxed, fun outing for people of all ages and a great way to catch-up with friends or get to know your neighbours,” she said.

“Bring a picnic blanket, chairs and your friends and family to enjoy the great entertainment on offer.”

Happy Feet will be showing at Broadmeadows Town Park on Sunday, January 26; Aladdin will screen at Newbury Park in Craigieburn on Saturday, February 1; Mary Poppins will screen at Greenvale Recreation Reserve on Friday, February 7; Secret Life of Pets 2 will be on at Tullamarine’s Leo Dineen Reserve on Friday, February 21; and Finding Nemo will be on at Sunbury Village Green on Saturday, March 28.

Cr Moore said the Summer Sessions were the start of Hume’s calendar of major events for 2020.

“The much-anticipated Craigieburn Festival will take place in March and the Broadmeadows Street Festival will return in April,” she said.
