One of Tarneit’s newest schools is in need of a name ahead of its first semester next year.

Residents are being invited to have their say on a new moniker for Davis Creek Primary School, the school’s interim name, and provide feedback via an online survey.

Tarneit MP Sarah Connolly said the government was seeking a name that reflected the school’s unique identity, inspired local pride and made the school easily locatable.

“We’re building new schools right across Victoria because every child deserves the best education, regardless of postcode,” Ms Connolly said.

“Communities can play a meaningful role in shaping the identity of their new school, ensuring each school reflects the unique character of its local community.”

Ms Connolly said the school will accommodate 525 students, assisting in alleviating enrolment pressures for surrounding schools and to meet the demands of Wyndham’s growing population.

She said the interim name of Davis Creek Primary School was chosen because there is a seasonal river by this name in the proximity of Tarneit.

Shortlisted names for each school have been selected by a School Advisory Group, based on factors including public interest, relevance to the local area, and the consideration of local indigenous languages.
