Meet Truganina’s award-winning mumpreneur.

Sarifa Younes recently took out this year’s AusMumpreneur Award in the multicultural category for her work as founder and director of the Arndell Park Early Childhood Learning Centre in Truganina.

Mrs Younes set up the business 15 years ago when she moved to Australia with her family and struggled to find a job or childcare for her eldest son.

“The award means a lot to me because it gives significance to the work that has gone into everything I have achieved,” she said.

“I want to motivate women in less fortunate circumstances to embrace their obstacles and to create better futures for themselves and their families.”

Mrs Younes is also president of the International Academy of Marawi and director of the Training College of Australia, where she trains early childhood educators.

The psychologist and early learning expert has also sponsored about 100 orphans with her husband Hassan and later this year will release her first book, Love Your Obstacles.

Mrs Younes said like most women, she struggles with achieving a family and life balance, but said working with her husband, who quit his job as an airspace engineer to help run the business, has been a great experience.

“I think to have a very supportive husband is very important in a family, because without the support of a husband it would be difficult for every woman to realise their dream,” she said.
