Wyndham Park Community Centre has launched a scholarship named in honour of dedicated community volunteer Maggie McInnes.

Ms McInnes is a founding member of the centre and its committee of management, in addition to being involved with several other local groups.

The scholarship will provide a Wyndham student from a current-generation refugee family with $3000 to assist them in a career or studies in artistic-based information technology such as computer-generated animation, computer graphics, photography or set design or a similar discipline.

Wyndham Park Community Centre’s Greg Ferrington said the scholarship also aimed to recognise Ms McInnes’ “long-standing involvement in community activities”.

Anyone interested in applying for the Maggie McInnes Scholarship must be completing year 11 or 12, VCAL or a similar accredited education or training program.

Applicants must apply for the scholarship in writing, including proof of eligibility and supporting documentation from their school or training institution.

Send applications to admin@wyndhamparkcc.com.au, marked “Attention to the Manager Wyndham Park Community Centre”. Applications will close at 5pm on September 20.
