Hoppers Crossing teenager Marcus Pisani is steering his way towards becoming a star on the national go-karting scene.

The 14-year-old took up go-kart racing about four years ago. “My dad used to race cars and I have always been interested in car racing,” he said.

“My dad used to take me to drive rental go-karts and I loved it and from that point on, I begged my parents for my own go-kart.”

Marcus said he won “quite a few races” last year. “Junior top guns, junior sprint classic, local club days, I even scored a perfect score in the club driver rankings – my favorite has to be my podium at the Australian Kart Championship at Monarto,” he said.

“What I enjoy about go-karting is I’ve met great people, made a few good friends, I’ve travelled around Australia as this year I competed in the Australian Kart Championship. “I enjoy the racing and I’ve learnt a lot in my short time racing.

“My dad is my mechanic, so my dad and I have a great bond, he’s like my biggest supporter and my best mate.

“There are some great people in karting, people who volunteer their time on weekends so we can race, a great community spirit.”

Marcus said he was hoping to become a car racing driver in the future.

“I would like to move in to car racing when I’m old enough, it just seems like the next step to take as I really enjoy racing,” he said.
