Point Cook’s Sindu Varathan says she is passionate about helping to create better lives for children in Australia and around the world.
Ms Varathan is raising funds for Save the Children as part of her entry into this year’s Ms Australia International Pageant, in which she has been named a nationalist finalist.
“The contestants are provided an opportunity to choose a charity that they are passionate about and advocate for its cause,” Ms Varathan said.
“I have been raising awareness of their (Save the Children’s) amazing work and am currently doing fundraising to support their work.
“I have created a project ‘Spare the Change’ where I am requesting people to consider sparing their change for the day or week and donate that towards building better lives for children.”
Ms Varathan said she wanted to help children because her own education has been “one of the key tools in my life that helped me navigate the ups and lows of life”.
Ms Varathan said the official crowning of Ms Australian International 2020 would take place later this month, on February 28 in Parramatta.
“I look forward to meeting all of my amazing fellow contestants whom I have networked with so far and of course, all the training that comes with equipping us to be the positive role models of our communities,” she said.
