Nappies are a basic necessity that many Australian families struggle to afford.

The Taylors Hill Neighbourhood House is this year jumping on board the Nappy Collective’s nappy drive, which distributes donated unused nappies to organisations that support families in need.

Leftover disposable nappies will be collected at the neighbourhood house, 121 Calder Park Drive, from Friday, May 6, until May 20.

Melton mayor Kathy Majdlik urged the community to support the cause and donate as much as they can.

“Nappies are not a luxury,” Cr Majdlik said.

“They are a fundamental healthcare need for growing families across the community.

“But, as we know, they’re also expensive, and sometimes families in crisis just aren’t able to afford them.

“By donating your unused nappies to the nappy drive, you know you’ll be supporting families in need by providing access to a basic hygiene product that we can sometimes take for granted.”
