A young opera singer from Werribee will be setting up shop at Queen Victoria market next week.
Baritone Daniel Felton will join 21 other performers from Opera Scholars Australia (OSA), a professional development and scholarship program for young classical singers, in the concert.
Felton and his fellow OSA singers will perform alongside the likes of Teddy Tahu Rhodes in Opera in the Market.
Felton, 24, said he discovered his passion for classical music while completing two music subjects during VCE.
After finishing secondary school, he completed a bachelor of music with honours at the University of Melbourne’s Conservatorium of Music.
Since then he has worked as a music teacher and performed in several shows across Australia and overseas – and even starred in a Ferroro Rocher commercial.
“As a classical and opera singer, you get to dive into many characters and settings,” Felton said. “The best thing is the camaraderie between opera singers.”
Opera in the Market will be held in Victoria Market’s K Shed on Monday, March 4. Gates open at 5.30pm, performance at 7.45pm. Tickets are priced from $69. Bookings: operainthemarket.com.au
