Good News Lutheran College heads into the school year with new leadership and a global focus.
Principal Fiona McAuliffe transferred from South Australia to take over the role from departing principal Simon Hughes.
Ms McAuliffe said she would put emphasis on inclusiveness in the school.
“The school has been growing at a phenomenal rate over the past 22 years and is still growing,” she said.
“We have so many different cultures involved in this school and a number of different religions in the school, so we have an opportunity to make an impact on how students accept each other and work together.
“My vision would be that the International Baccalaureate programs ensure that we’re being inclusive of everybody and bring the best out of all the different backgrounds we have.”
Ms McAuliffe said she also wanted to progress with the roll out of the school’s master plan for expansion.
Steve Tkaczuk, who replaces Nathan Shrowder as head of middle school this year, said his aim was to raise the students’ global awareness.
“It’s about getting the children to realise that beyond their own community, there is a world out there and they have a responsibility to be the inquirers and be the people who are going to lead us into the future,” Mr Tkaczuk said.
