One of Melton’s cutest and furriest companions has strut its stuff for the cameras, and will be part of the 2020 calendar for a Melbourne animal hospital.
As part of the annual ‘Backyard heroes’ calendar for Lort Smith Animal Hospital in North Melbourne, Melton pooch Cookie will be the feature pet for September 2020, joining 11 other pets of all shapes and sizes to raise funds for the hospital.
Cookie has had a special job at Lort Smith for many years as a Lort Smith Pet Therapy volunteer.
Recently he retired from his role where he and his carer regularly visited an aged care facility bringing joy, comfort and companionship to the residents.
Treasuring the memories of their shared pet therapy journey, his carer Linda Willis said volunteering with Cookie was one of the most special parts of her life.
The 2020 calendar features mice, cats, dogs, reptiles, birds and even wombats – celebrating the array of animals that vets treat every week at Australia’s largest not-for-profit animal hospital.
All profits raised from the calendar go direct to Lort Smith’s work, caring for sick, injured and vulnerable animals, and the people who care for them.
Calendars can be purchased for $15 from lortsmith.com/shop.
