A man on the run for more than two years following the brutal murder of his brother and an alleged hammer attack in Keilor, has been arrested.
Jonathan Dick was arrested in the Melbourne CBD following an alleged assault at a carpark at Hosier Lane about 7.50am today.
Police were called to the carpark following reports a man was being restrained by two other men.
Dick was taken to hospital where he remains under police guard.
The 41-year old has been on the run since his brother David was brutally killed after he was attacked with a sword as he stepped out of a lift at Westfield Doncaster in February 2017.
Dick was allegedly seen in Keilor last August. At the time, a former friend said he was attacked by Dick with a hammer outside his Church Street home.
Following the Keilor incident detectives released footage of a cyclist, believed to be Dick, traveling along Green Gully Road on the day of the alleged Keilor assault.
The Keilor footage is the only sighting of Dick since the 2017 murder.
The exact circumstances leading to this morning’s incident are yet to be determined, but the other two men involved are said to be assisting police.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
