A $65 million distribution centre will be built in Truganina for the retailer Amart Furniture.
The company has signed a 10-year lease pre-commitment with Goodman Group for the new distribution centre, which will be constructed at the Connectwest Industrial Estate in Logistics Drive.
Goodman Group will build the centre, which is scheduled for completion next year. The 48,770 square metre facility will serve as the headquarters for Amart.
Amart Furniture chief executive Lee Chadwick said the Truganina distribution centre would replace an existing group of warehouses in Somerton, in the north-west suburbs of Melbourne.
“The new distribution centre will provide a modern, safe and flexible workplace for our warehouse team,” Mr Chadwick said.
“This was one of our top priorities when designing the facility.”
Amart Furniture has a network of 63 stores nationwide, including six in Victoria, which are located in Hoppers Crossing, Braybrook, Ballarat, Campbellfield, Dandenong and Frankston.
The company was founded by John Van Lieshout, one of 13 children born to Dutch parents who migrated to Australia.
