More than 23 years ago, Jim and Barbara Morgan purchased a building in Techno Park Drive, Williamstown. Jim had the vision of turning it into a self-storage facility so using his engineering background, he applied this knowledge to convert the original building.

With the help of his son, Ivor, they built the business from the ground up. This not only included setting up a new business, but also the physical construction and management of it. The first 10 years was tough, as most of the work was done by Jim and Ivor, and being a business open every day, there was no time for relaxation, father/son or family time.

To help on the desk, Rosemary Angyasy was employed and 13 years later is still with the business as Manager.

In this time, Jim’s has forged ahead, building a team of storage experts, complementing a first-class, award-winning facility. The rest of the team consists of Stephen Want (Sales Manager), Ada Bolzonello, Lauren Cooper and Jess Pierce (Storage Consultants) and Laura Hayes (Housekeeping) – all hand-picked for their ability to make the team stronger.

General Manager Ivor Morgan is also Chairman of the Board for the Self Storage Association of Australasia (SSAA). Having been the recipient of both local government and industry awards from the SSAA, Jim’s is highly recognised as an industry leader.

As testament to the team’s commitment to excellence and professional customer service, comes regular cards and emails of thanks, even flowers, chocolates and home-made treats from happy customers.

With personalised access codes and individually alarmed units, there’s 24/7 video camera surveillance with computerized back-to-base monitoring, automatic lighting, and the manager resides on site.

Jim’s is a one-stop shop for packing and storage needs. From packing tape and boxes of all sizes to lounge covers and butchers paper, the box shop opens every day and items can be picked up or delivered.

Jim’s is a big supporter of the local community and has sponsored many community and sporting groups and events. Some of these include the local Life Saving and Williamstown Football Clubs, as well as events such as the Williamstown North Primary School fete, Special Children’s Christmas Party and Run Melbourne to raise funds for Amaze (Autism Victoria).

Jim’s Self Storage is clearly doing something right given the latest expansion is due to open in July this year. The 160 new units add sizes not previously available to cater for customers’ varying needs. With undercover loading, they include internal units and external drive-up units with 24-hour access available. There will be some great opening specials too.
