Just as summer hits its stride by the end of the year, Bacchus Marsh’s Courthouse Hotel will be strutting a roof-top beer garden so good it will rival those popping up all over Melbourne.
Hotel manager Mary Novacic couldn’t be more chuffed.
“This is a fabulous addition to the Courthouse and I’m sure it will be the most popular spot in town to have a drink with friends,” Mary says.
“It’s all part of an upgrade to our function room, which will double in size. Function attendees will have full access to the undercover beer garden. When it’s not booked for a function, our regular patrons can take advantage of the space on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
“We’re fully expecting it to go gangbusters – people are already booking their functions in anticipation of the opening.”
The beer garden isn’t the only thing that’s happening at the Courthouse.
The bistro, home to classic pub food, has been given a revamp, with banquette seating and comfy cushions running along banks of picture windows to accompany more traditional seating. It’s a lovely light-filled space, perfect for the whole family.
The bistro offers $10 and $15 lunches and $16 two-course senior meals from Monday to Friday, while theme nights run from Monday to Thursday. On Mondays, it’s $14 pasta; Tuesday, $15 parmas; Wednesday, $10 discount for all steaks; and Thursday, $12 burgers. A vegan menu is available.
The upgraded TAB sports bar and lounge has new TVs with channels including Sky, Trackside and Foxsport, and there is keno vision in all pub areas. And while you’re there, why not try the Carlton Draught Tank Beer, an unpasteurised brewery-fresh beer? The Courthouse is the only place in town that has it.
Yet another reason to drop into the Courthouse – and to sign up as a member – is a promotion running until December 13. Members have a chance to win a 14-day Pacific Islands cruise just by spending $20 anywhere in the pub then swiping their membership card at the kiosk.
Mary loves the wonderful old pub and it shows.
“We believe in making every customer feel special, whether they spend $5 or $500,” she says.
“We appreciate out team so much – without their good spirits and work ethic, we wouldn’t be successful. It’s that simple.”
