A host of culinary adventures head west as part of the 2016 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
The eat.drink.westside program of 20 events, from March 4-13, will offer the chance to enjoy a menu paying homage to Footscray’s cultural diversity.
‘For the Love of Footscray’ will offer, for example, a one-off batch of west-side beer, matched with food, at Spotswood’s Two Birds Brewing. Or festival-goers can dine with Vietnamese chefs at Sunshine Pho Fever.
Other events include a four-course lunch matched with wines at Shadowfax Wines, an evening with Masterchef’s Gary Mehigan at The Boathouse Café, and a celebration of seafood at Williamstown’s Seaworks.
Maribyrnong mayor Cameron McDonald says Melbourne’s west is blessed with cuisines from across the globe.
“This year’s program has 20 events providing authentic experiences,” he said. “Together with our fellow inner-west councils, we’re an ongoing fixture of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival program.”
