EPPING firefighters, including Peter O’Meara (pictured), will open their station doors this Sunday, November 18, to demonstrate emergency response skills.

The Epping fire station’s open day marks the start of Fire Action Week and includes a crew cutting a “passenger” out of a car, a tour of the station, vintage and modern fire engine displays and face painting.

“It’s important for the community to recognise that firefighters attend a variety of emergencies other than fires,” Metropolitan Fire Brigade deputy chief officer Paul Stacchino said.

“Since 2000, MFB firefighters have been qualified as first responders to medical emergency calls and will use the open day to exhibit training in resuscitation, airway management CPR and defibrillation.”

The open days runs from 10am to noon at Epping Fire Station, 28 Childs Road, Epping.
