Rob McIntyre has been named the 2017 Sports Focus Administrator of the Year.

McIntyre, who is well known in the local sporting community, was named the winner at a ceremony earlier this week in Bendigo.

The award recognises the contributions made by volunteer sports administrators throughout the Loddon Campaspe region. McIntyre was the Macedon Ranges Shire’s finalist.

McIntyre was recognised for his work with several sporting organisations in the Macedon Ranges and greater region. He’s been involved in sporting committee roles for 35 years and continues to advocate for the growth of sport in the region.

He’s currently president of the Gisborne and District Cricket Association having been involved with the association for 10 years.

He’s also president of the Romsey Sporting Association, a board member of the Victorian Country Cricket League and deputy chairman of the Central Highlands Cricket Region.

McIntyre has also been awarded life memberships at both the Romsey football netball and cricket clubs, along with the GDCA.

McIntyre acknowledged the support of local council and other long serving volunteers on the team during his acceptance speech. He also noted he was fortunate enough to come from a sporting family and he was following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather volunteering in the local sporting community.
