A goalless first half cruelled Greenvale’s chances of taking a win over Strathmore on Saturday, with the Jets slipping to third in Essendon District Football League premier division after the loss.

The Jets managed just six behinds in the first half, and with Strathmore more efficient across the game, a comeback by Greenvale was never on the cards.

Strathmore took the win 15.7 (97) – 5.9 (39).

The loss is Greenvale’s second in the past four weeks, with two slender wins in between.

The Jets will be looking to get their season rolling again against seventh-placed Glenroy this weekend.

In division 1, Craigieburn struggled in front of goal early before eventually going down to East Keilor.

The Eagles kicked just one behind in the first quarter, but kept East Keilor in check to trail by just 16 points at half-time.

While the second half saw the teams trade goals for large portions, East Keilor had all the answers in a 14.14 (98)-10.10 (70) victory.

Tullamarine proved too strong for Westmeadows, kicking five goals in each of the first two quarters to open up what proved to be a match-winning lead.

Despite kicking just two goals after half-time, Tullamarine had done enough early to ensure it claimed the points.

Brad Allen booted five goals in the 12.10 (82)-8.3 (51) win.
