While the Essendon District Football League was fighting out a thriller against the Goulburn Valley  in the AFL Community Championships on Saturday, the division 1 and 2 sides were still doing battle among themselves.

In division 1, Westmeadows goes into a massive two weeks against the other sides in the top three, in winning form.

It was seen as a danger game for the Tigers but they were in control all day and the 17.11 (113)-­8.8 (56) win was never in doubt.

Jordan Foster was again prominent in front of goal, kicking seven goals in a best­-on-­ground performance.

Tullamarine returned to the winners’ list with a comprehensive win over Hadfield.

Six goals to two in the second quarter set up the win and a nine-­goal final quarter was the icing on the cake as the Demons won 23.14 (152)­10.2 (62).

The Burns boys were dangerous in front of goal, Jack kicking four goals and Chris three, as was William Geyer.

David Brockway was named best on ground, the fourth straight game in which he figured in the best.

In division 2, Roxburgh Park ended Moonee Valley’s winning start to the season in the clash of the two Magpies.

It was a slow start for the Roxburgh Park, who was goal­less in the first quarter before kicking six in the second quarter to lead by 10 points at half-­time.

Moonee Valley regained a small ascendancy going into the final quarter, but Roxburgh Park kicked seven goals to one in the last quarter to win 14.9 (93)-­9.5 (59).

Tim Blacker kicked four goals, while Brent Freeman was best on ground.

The win moves Roxburgh Park to second on the ladder.

Jacana returned to form with a massive win over Burnside Heights.

All the Jaguars’ previous matches this season had been decided by 10 points or fewer, but six goals to nil in the first quarter set them up for a 26.13 (169)­3.7 (25) victory.
