It was a day to remember for Jacana’s Cameron Cloke on Saturday, as the star forward kicked his 100th goal of the Essendon District Football League division 2 season.
Cloke needed just four goals against East Sunbury to break the 100 goal barrier, and with an average of more than seven goals a game, he was expected to reach the mark at some point during the round 14 clash.
The Thunder did a good job of keeping Cloke in check, but he got the four goals necessary to reach the milestone.
It’s the first time in Cloke’s career he has kicked 100 goals in a season. He won the EDFL division 1 goal kicking the last two years.
More importantly for the Jaguars they also got the win, defeating the Thunder, 13.9 (87)-11.12 (78). The win keeps the Jaguars on top of the ladder.
Matthew Siciliano was named their best.
In other results, Roxburgh Park fell short against Northern Saints. The Magpies were left to rue poor second and fourth quarters, when they kicked just one goal across those quarters.
Skipper Harley Short was named the Magpies best.
In premier division, Greenvale had a big win against Pascoe Vale. The ladder leaders accounted for the Panthers, 14.15 (99)-4.10 (34).
Nicholas Maric was named best on ground as the Jets shared the goals around with 11 players hitting the scoreboard.
Craigieburn had their best result of the season but it wasn’t enough for the Eagles to snare a win against Strathmore.
Only three points separated the teams at three quarter time, before Strathmore kicked six last quarter goals to win 11.20 (86)-7.4 (46).
Stefan Terzievski was the Eagles best in the loss.
In division 1, Westmeadows fell short against Airport West, losing 9.14 (68)-8.7 (55). The loss all but ends the Tigers small finals chances. With three rounds to go, the Tigers are three games and percentage outside the top four.
Tullamarine had the bye.
