Bacchus Marsh Gold’s grand final hopes have come to an end at the final hurdle in the Central Highlands Bowls’ top division.
Looking to come from fourth and play in the club’s first top division grand final in a number of years, Gold fell short against Gisborne.
Three of the rinks went down to the wire, with the eight shot win by Gisborne’s Graham Quaife’s rink’ over Phil Minniti being the difference.
Gisborne won two rinks, on the way to the 91 (16)-82 (2) win.
The other two rinks were both draws, with Justin Webster and Shannon Clements unable to be separated with Gisborne’s Matthew Bacon and Darren Fletcher respectively.
The result sets up a grand final between the last two title winners, Gisborne and Kyneton Golf.
In division 2, Kyneton’s run continued with a strong win against Diggers Rest.
Kyneton winning 86 (14)-57 (2), to set up a grand final match up with Gisborne Red.
If Kyneton take out the title, it would have done it after finishing the regular season in fourth.
Kyneton has two teams through to the grand finals with Kyneton Red through to the division 3 grand final.
Red defeated Romsey in the preliminary final and now face Trentham in the grand final.
All three grand finals will be held on Saturday.
