The Weerama Festival celebrated its 40th anniversary this year and the organising committee is keen to ensure the iconic Werribee event remains relevant.

The committee is running an online survey seeking resident opinions on Weerama, to contribute to the festival’s format for 2020 and beyond.

The survey asks respondents for their favourite aspect of the festival, including the parade, the youth talent competition, music and entertainment, dance groups, carnival, food, market stalls or community stalls.

People are also asked to select their “least favourite” aspect of the festival and what day, or days, they think Weerama should be held.

Another question asks for suggestions on where the festival should be staged, including Watton Street, Presidents Park, Chirnside Park or Kelly Park.

Everyone who fills out the survey is encouraged to share their personal experiences of Weerama’s history and give any other feedback.

Weerama is usually held in Werribee one week after Moomba, on a Sunday, from 10am to 4pm. Next year’s festival has been scheduled for Sunday, March 17.
