Wyndham’s V/Line commuters have enjoyed a month of mostly punctual services, with the Geelong line recording its highest on-time performance in 18 months.
Public Transport Victoria (PTV) performance data reveals that 91.5 per cent of Geelong line services – which stop at Tarneit and Wyndham Vale stations – for the month of April reached their destination on time last month, up from an 88.2 per cent punctuality rate in March and 82.2 per cent in January.
Of the 2599 services delivered on the Geelong line in April, 68 services were cancelled.
On the metropolitan network, 92.1 per cent of trains scheduled for the Werribee Line ran on time.
PTV chief executive Jeroen Weimar said he was pleased with the April performance results.
“There has been a marked improvement in V/Line services in April with punctuality improvements seen on almost every line,” he said.
Last month, Wyndham mayor Peter Maynard called on the federal government to fast-track funding to upgrade the Melbourne-Geelong train line.
“Improving the rail capacity on the Melbourne-Geelong line is an excellent opportunity to build new rail stations in Wyndham and to leverage this infrastructure to provide services and amenities,” he said.
