The Australian Open is in full swing and tennis fever has gripped the nation.

To help celebrate Brimbank is bringing back its In2Tennis program.

Margaret Giudice said there will be no shortage of opportunities to take to the court.

“In 2018 the 10-day program of tennis activities has been planned to coincide with the Australian Open,” Cr Giudice said.

“There are 36 activities scheduled, starting with the official opening event on Friday, January 19, right outside the Brimbank Community and Civic Centre.

“If you love tennis, have thought about trying tennis, or are just looking for an opportunity to be active and meet new people, then the In2Tennis is perfect for you.”

Ten Brimbank-based clubs will host events, which include the Hot Shots program for children aged five to 12, and Cardio Tennis, which includes a variety of cardio workouts.

The 2018 program also offers a mums and bubs event, where mums can have a hit while children play with their toys on the next court.

Some clubs will also offer free court use at selected times throughout the program.

Cr Giudice said last year’s successful program made the decision to bring it back an easy one.

“About 580 community members took part and we’ve gone on to win multiple awards.”
