Sunshine police have seized about 481 grams of methyl amphetamine, eight grams of ecstasy, a quantity of weapons and more than $50,000 in cash from a Delahey property.

The find came after police executed a warrant on the property following a lengthy investigation.

The warrant was executed last Monday and resulted in the occupant, a 22 year-old man, facing multiple charges including drug trafficking and possession.

Sunshine Police Acting Senior Sergeant Martin Kappel said the find was significant for a local station.

“It was a pretty big seizure for a station job. It was a good job as far as state policing is concerned,” he said.

The matter is now before the courts.

Recent statistics released by the Crime Statistics Agency revealed a spike in drug-related offences in Delahey for the year ending June 2017.

A total of 20 drug trafficking and dealing offences were recorded in the suburb, up from nine recorded during the previous 12 months.

Drug use and possession is also on the rise in Delahey according to figures, with 43 recorded offences, a significant increase on the 23 from the previous year.

In total, there has been a 72.5 per cent rise in drug-related offences across the suburb in the past 12 months.
