Melba Waugh and her staff have been delighting customers at Bacchus Marsh post office for the past decade and their efforts have not gone unnoticed.

The post office branch was named one of this year’s winners in the Australia Post Licensee Awards for its excellence in customer service.

“We still get a lot of regular customers who come into the post office,” Ms Waugh said.

“When we first bought the business in 2007, we thought that there might possibly be a decrease in demand for the service but that hasn’t been the case.

“I coach all my staff to be extra sensitive to the customers’ needs and to be sincere in selling.

“It’s not about the sale, it’s about helping people with what they need.”

She said the Bacchus Marsh branch was originally a corporate post office and the site where Australia Post piloted the rollout of community post offices.

“As far as post offices go, it’s the cream of the crop,” Ms Waugh said.

Bacchus Marsh Post Office received the award for excellence in customer service and post office operations and for its contribution to its local community.

Melton South post office won an award for customer service excellence and placed in the top five branches in the state.
