Karingal St Laurence, with 65 years of service behind it, has changed its name to genU.
Short for “Generation You”, the name represents and embodies what Karingal has always stood for, says chief executive Mike McKinstry. He has a message for people in the community.
“Whatever generation you belong to – whether you’re young, old or somewhere in between – what drives us is the belief that neither disability nor ageing are disadvantages to be endured, but rather challenges to be met boldly, with achievements and adventures to be had,” Mike says.
“As a leading provider of disability, aged-care, employment, education and lifestyle support, genU recognises its role is to help you realise your dreams – no matter what shape or size those dreams are.
“We want you to be ambitious, dream big and have YOU tell us where YOU want to go – we’ll make things happen.
“If you’re looking to gain new skills, build your independence, make new friends, tackle an adventure and have a bit of fun, we’ve got you covered, because that’s what we do best … helping you be the best you can be.
“We are committed to continuing the story of our growing organisation and delivering the best outcomes for our clients, business partners and staff.
“But we are also turning over the page and starting a new chapter, which is a really exciting step for our organisation.”
genU offers personal support, recreation and adventure activities, skills development and training to people of all abilities from throughout Wyndham and south-west Victoria.
