Loud hair, colour and music will be all the rage in West Sunshine when students from Marian College present their production of Hairspray.
The production, the first the college has held in years, will run from August 29 to September 1.
The much-loved, family-friendly show captures the spirit and turmoil of 1962 Baltimore, Maryland through laughter, dance, romance, and deliriously tuneful songs.
Marian College student Gabrielle plays Tracy Turnblad and said she’s thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
“Being a part of the
Hairspray production has been such an enjoyable and overwhelming experience,” she said.
“Not only has being part of this production improved my singing, acting and dancing skills, it has also given me the opportunity to meet new people.
“To be playing such an optimistic and lively personality who brings the stage to life has been beyond exciting.”
Fellow cast member Meron is in her first year at the college and said the production has made the transition an enjoyable one.
“This production has meant so much to me as I was able to learn a huge number of things,” she said.
“I’ve learnt how to … expand my singing abilities, learnt how to sing in a harmony and much more.
“I am extremely excited about putting on this show but at the same time, I’m also a bit nervous – but as they say, the show must go on.”
