It’s the fun run raising critical funds for Werribee Mercy Hospital.
Entries are open for the annual Wyndham Rotary Fun Run, which will kick-off at Chirnside Park from 8.30am on March 4.
The race is open to walkers and runners of all abilities and includes a five-kilometre or 10-kilometre running course along the Werribee River trail, or four-kilometre and eight-kilometre options for walkers.
There are also two novelty races for young ones – a 400-metre run for children aged six and under, and a 1500-metre run for those aged 12 and under – with children encouraged to dress up as superheroes for the race.
Proceeds raised will go towards equipment for Werribee Mercy Hospital’s critical care unit.
Last year, more than 700 people pounded the pavement and raised their heart rates in the annual event, raising more than $27,000 for the hospital’s critical care unit.
This time around, Olympian Lauryn Mark, Park Hotel owner Nick Christou and Star Weekly columnist Kevin Hillier have all signed on as ambassadors for the fun run.
Max Coster from Wyndham Rotary said the first 500 online entries would receive a free red T-shirt.
He said families will also be able to enjoy pre-race warm-ups, free physios on site, spot prizes to the value of $300, stalls, a petting booth, face-painting and a barbecue and coffee.
