A thief has targeted a fourth Brimbank business in less than three months.
A milk bar in Porter Court, Deer Park was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight yesterday, with the offender making off with cash and cigarettes.
Police say a man dressed in a black hooded-jumper and wearing a peaked cap entered the milk bar about 12.30pm and threatened an employee with a firearm.
The staff member handed over cash, but it wasn’t enough for the thief who then jumped over the counter and grabbed cigarettes, before fleeing the store.
No one was injured during the ordeal.
Police spokeswoman Lauren Kells said detectives believe the man may have been involved in two other aggravated burglaries – at a Station Road chemist in Deer Park on May 21, and a Deer Park service station on June 18 – as well as a similar incident at a St Albans chemist on Main Road West on June 19.
“Detectives from Brimbank Embona Taskforce are also investigating if the incident is linked to a series of other armed robberies occurring in the area over the last two months,” she said.
Police believe the offender may live locally. In previous burglaries, he has made off on a bike.
Victims say the man is of Caucasian appearance, aged in his early to mid-30s, about 183cm tall, with olive skin, brown eyes, a medium build and a short beard.
