It’s the drive-thru with a difference.

Wyndham residents will be able to pack up their car with unwanted household goods and drop the items off at Tarneit’s Penrose Promenade Community Centre later this month for a Wyndham council pop-up drive-thru recycling day.

The items will then be redistributed to the local men’s shed, refugee support group West Welcome Wagon or recycled.

Environment and sustainability portfolio holder Heather Marcus said the event would allow people to unclutter their homes and give unwanted items new lives.

“Everything from clothes, electronic items, white goods, furniture, homewares and mattresses can be dropped off for free at the pop-up drive-thru recycling day,” Cr Marcus said.

A maximum 15 items a household will be accepted.

The council will not accept any asbestos, chemicals, biological waste, sharps, broken monitors, fluorescent tubes or smoke detectors.

The drive-thru recycling day will be held on Saturday, March 25, from 8am-12.30pm.
