Primary school students from around Macedon Ranges are fine-tuning their skills in preparation for a show combining their Resonance String Orchestra with the Travel Art Dance Company.

Musical Bodies will include works by well-loved classical composers Karl Jenkins, Bela Bartok and Johannes Brahms.

Resonance String Orchestra director Gavin Green said the September 11 show at Sacred Heart College in Kyneton would be “a dynamic fusion of sound and movement”.

“Travel Art brings together dancers from diverse backgrounds, including contemporary dance, classical ballet, improvisation, creative dance, yoga, gymnastics, circus and martial arts,” he said.

“Their engaging and thought-provoking performance style will be illuminated against the backdrop of works by classical and contemporary composers, brought to life by the luscious sounds of the Resonance String Orchestra, the Resonance Senior Strings and Quartet Conspirito.”

Mr Green said the Resonance musicians were working towards the Gisborne Singers’ production of Handel’s

Messiah in November at the same time as the ensemble prepared for Musical Bodies.
