Take part in a ceremonial bush tucker walk on July 6, to help honour Hume’s indigenous residents. The walk and accompanying planting event have been organised by the council as part of its National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Day of Celebration (NAIDOC) Week events. The events will include members from the traditional custodians of the region, the Gunung-Willam-Balluk of the Wurundjeri. At the Indigenous Education Centre, 40 Pearcedale Parade, Broadmeadows, from 2.30-4.30pm.

Monday market

The Whittlesea Monday Market is at the showgrounds, Yea Road, Whittlesea, every Monday from 8am-1pm. Pick up fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs, honey and cakes and browse through stalls selling plants, tools, toys, workwear and more. There’s an animal farm and pony rides to keep the kids entertained.
