Footscray’s Gaye Abandon School of Sewing and Upcycling is running sewing classes designed for those with different skill levels, from November 2. Designer, sewing teacher and textile artist Gaye Naismith (pictured) will teach how to master the basics of sewing and how to sew garments and homewares from upcycled and vintage fabric. Welcome market

Creating a Welcome is holding a summer market with handcrafted goods for sale, from noon until 5pm on Saturday, November 12, at VU at Metrowest, 138 Nicholson Street, Footscray. All proceeds will go towards supporting the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.
