Off and running

The St Albans Gift will be run this Saturday from 2pm. This Victorian Athletics League event is hosted by St Albans Sports Club, which backs both the St Albans football and cricket clubs, and is held at Kings Park Reserve. Entry is free.

Garden art workshops

Free two-hour bamboo pole art workshops will be held on Friday, January 15 and 22, from 11am. The finished poles will be installed in Sunshine’s Pollard Gardens.

World harmony week

Sunshine Hospital will celebrate World Interfaith Harmony Week, which starts February 4. The week promotes harmony between all people regardless of faith, and will present religious voices from the recent Climate Change Conference, where many faith leaders advocated the moral obligation to address climate change.

Soccer bonanza

The fifth annual Brimbank Cup returns on Saturday, February 13, at Green Gully Reserve, Keilor Downs, from 9am. With 32 club and community soccer teams competing, the two-day family-friendly event will also provide plenty of food, music and entertainment. Hosted by Keilor Wolves Soccer Club, the event aims to build social links between people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Councillor candidates will be led through the essentials of local government and good governance at a series of free councillor candidate information sessions at the Sydenham Community Hub, from 11am to 2pm on Thursday, March 3, and at Sassella Park Community Centre in Deer Park from 6pm to 9pm on Monday, March 7.
