Mother’s Day event

Celebrate Mother’s Day at Upper Point Cook, Hacketts Road, from noon-4pm on May 7 with attractions such as arts and craft stalls, pampering products, yoga, a selection of Melbourne’s finest food trucks and live music. The free event will also include giveaways, face painting and a jumping castle for the kids.


Senior driver safety expo

The next Senior Drivers Expo will be held on June 4 at 9.45am at Hobsons Bay Council civic offices, 115 Civic Parade, Altona. The RoadSafe Westgate Community Road Safety Council will provide information about road laws, health and effects of medicines. Participants get a free and confidential driving assessment in their own cars and an assessment of their cars’ safety and roadworthiness. A free lunch is provided. Bookings essential.

Girl power

Biggest Morning Tea

Help raise money for the Cancer Council at the Manor Lakes Biggest Morning Tea on May 6 from 10am-1pm at the Wyndham Vale Community Centre, 86 Manor Lakes Boulevard, Manor Lakes. The event will include door prizes, raffles, food, market stalls and entertainment from local kinders and schools. Tickets cost $10 and need to be purchased before the day.

Meet the author

Best selling UK kids’ author Liz Pichon, who wrote the award-winning Tom Gates series, will be at the Julia Gillard Library Tarneit, 150 Sunset Views Boulevard, Tarneit, from 4.30pm on May 23. Pichon will talk about the series and share her inspirations as an author and illustrator. She will also show children how to draw her characters and will sign books. Bookings required.
